No doubt about it, things are moving slowly in Topeka.
Unfortunately, the current Republican Senate Leadership doesn’t seem interested in tackling the big problems facing Kansas like fully funding our schools, keeping our state on a sustainable fiscal path, or improving healthcare statewide with Medicaid Expansion.

It's turnaround week in the Legislature - we're halfway through! Because of our deadlines, all bills that are to be considered must move forward by Thursday. It's going to be a busy week, and I'm eager to work through everything coming.

Mary Ware Takes Oath of Office in Kansas Senate
On January 16, 2019, Senator Mary Ware took her oath of office in the Kansas Senate. Ware was elected by Democratic Committepersons on Saturday, December 1, 2018 to Wichita's 25th Senate District to fill the unexpired term of Lynn Rogers, who was elected Lt. Governor on November 6, 2018. Lt. Gov. Rogers took his oath of office on the same day.
